Products

Cement
KIL produces and sells cement manufactured using clinker produced at its plants as well as other ingredients procured from various local suppliers. KIL's primary products are Portland Pozzolana Cement ("PPC") and Ordinary Portland Cement ("OPC"). KIL has also recently started the production of slag cement. The cement manufactured complies with the standards of the Bureau of Indian Standards. The majority of KIL's cement products are marketed under the brand name of "Birla Shakti" and a small portion of it is sold under the brand name of "Vasavadatta Cement".

KIL also produces and sells limited amounts of other specialty cements such as slag cement, which although produced from the same basic raw materials, varies in chemical composition. Margins vary for the different types of cement produced. The sale of PPC has historically achieved higher margins compared to other cement products. Production of various cements is driven by market demand for different types of cement. This diverse cement product offering enables KIL to satisfy various performance specifications from customers.

Rayon and Transparent Paper
KIL also manufactures viscose rayon filament yarn, transparent paper and other related products. KIL currently manufactures deniers of varying thickness from 75 deniers to 700 deniers.

KIL's rayon and transparent paper plant is located Hooghly, West Bengal. Its rayon is marketed under the brand name "Kesoram Rayon," while transparent paper is marketed under the brand name "Kesophane".
